BCC appoints new Comms and Public Affairs Lead

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has announced the appointment of Tim Snowball as its new Director of Communications and Public Affairs. Snowball will take up the position in mid-September and will head a team focused on media, digital, marketing, member communications and public affairs.

Snowball joins the BCC after an eleven-year agency career, leading public affairs practices at MHP Group, FleishmanHillard and PHA Group. In this time, he has established a professional reputation for delivering innovative integrated campaigns and has won several awards for the impact achieved for clients.

Snowball was previously Director of Communications for the Liberal Democrats during the Coalition Government and was a longstanding political adviser to Nick Clegg in both Opposition and Government from 2006 to 2014.

Snowball replaces Balshen Izzet who left the BCC in June to become a Special Adviser at No10.

Commenting on his appointment Tim Snowball said:

“With a government in search of growth, there has never been such an important time for a strong business voice.

“Time and again the BCC has proven its ability to shape government thinking, and I relish the opportunity to work with the BCC’s passionate team of advocates for business, and Chambers up and down the country, to bring growth-orientated solutions to government policy making”.

Shevaun Haviland, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

“After more than a decade in consulting and a long stint at the heart of British political life, Tim brings to the BCC his strong understanding of the needs of both business and government, and an impressive record as a political campaigner.”

“I look forward working with Tim as he helps build the BCC’s national advocacy and wider communications for the benefit of all our stakeholders.”
