Unauthorised organisations statement

Unauthorised organisations statement

At the British Chambers of Commerce, we take great pride in our long-standing reputation as a trusted and respected organisation.

We wish to make it explicitly clear that our official affiliation lies solely with our registered network of UK and overseas Chambers of Commerce and business groups. Click here to see a full list of accredited members.

It has come to our attention that there may be instances where our branding is being used without authorisation by other entities. We want to reassure our partners and stakeholders that any unauthorised use of our branding does not reflect an official association or endorsement by the British Chambers of Commerce.

We are committed to upholding the integrity of our brand and maintaining the trust of our community. As such, we are not linked to any organisation or entity that utilises our branding in an unauthorised or inappropriate manner.

Our official channels of communication, including our website, social media and publications, are our only sources for accurate and reliable information about the British Chambers of Commerce and its activities.

We appreciate the support and understanding of our stakeholders as we work to protect the reputation and credibility of the British Chambers of Commerce.

A list of our official partners can be found here.

‘CHAMBER OF COMMERCE’ NUMBERS

We have become aware that some businesses are listing a “Chamber of Commerce number” on their websites or company materials.  We would like to clarify that no such number exists for UK businesses.

In the UK:
  • Chambers of Commerce are independent organisations, often registered as companies limited by guarantee. They each have a Companies House registration number, like any other legal entity.
  • Businesses who join a Chamber become members, but they do not receive any form of British Chambers of Commerce-issued identification number or code.
  • There is no official “Chamber of Commerce number” for businesses, nor is one required or issued by accredited Chambers.
Any business quoting a “Chamber of Commerce number” may be misinformed or, in some cases, may be misrepresenting their relationship with a Chamber.  If you come across this kind of reference and have concerns about its legitimacy, please use the contact form below.
