BCC SAYS BUSINESSES CAN HAVE A LEADING ROLE IN THE SWITCH TO A GREENER FUTURE

Responding to the UK Board of Trade’s report on Green Trade, William Bain, Head of Trade Policy at the BCC, said:

“Businesses see a leading role for the UK in the global switch to a greener future. The BCC is calling for an export strategy to double the number of exporting companies in the UK; and growing overseas sales of new low carbon technologies and connected services is a key element of this.

“Economic and taxation policy should work for business to support these aims. We also need to respect our current strengths in energy exports and work with the industry during the green transition.

“With the UK government continuing free trade negotiations with new and existing partners, it is crucial that it expands opportunities for UK businesses through the switch to greener technologies and practices especially in its approach to investment and procurement.

“It must also provide new fiscal and practical help for a wide range of companies to benefit from new green market access. The Chamber Network is keen to be an active partner in this agenda.”
