OSBIT WINS FUTURE OF WORK AWARD

Osbit Ltd has won the Future of Work Award at the British Chambers of Commerce Chamber Business Awards 2026.

The Chamber Business Awards recognise and celebrate business excellence through the successes and achievements of members of the Chamber of Commerce network.

Osbit, a member of North East Chamber of Commerce, was recognised for creating a people-first culture designed to attract, develop and retain highly skilled talent for the offshore wind sector.

The company has welcomed 11 apprentices since launching its programme, with every one of them progressing into a permanent role. It also hosts between 10 and 20 university placement students each year, giving them responsibility on live engineering projects and creating a pipeline into graduate roles.

Osbit supports continuous development through its LearnEx knowledge-sharing platform, employee TechTalks, internal courses and external qualifications. Last year, it dedicated 458 hours to STEM engagement, attended 64 events and reached more than 5,800 young people through 75 employee STEM ambassadors. Its new build and test site at the Port of Blyth has also doubled permanent jobs at the site.

Shevaun Haviland, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

“Osbit has built its growth strategy around people, skills and opportunity. Its investment in apprentices, students and continuous learning is creating the specialist workforce the offshore wind sector needs, while opening high-value career paths in the North East. This is a strong model for how companies can develop talent, improve performance and inspire the next generation.”

Nigel Ward, Managing Director of Osbit, said:

“We are delighted to receive the Future of Work Award. Our people are central to Osbit’s success, our team have worked hard to create an environment where individuals can learn quickly, take responsibility and contribute ideas. This award belongs to our whole team and reinforces our commitment to developing engineering talent and creating rewarding careers in the North East.”
