Chamber Business Awards 2022:  Employee-owned schoolwear business wins Community Champion award

As part of the British Chambers of Commerce’s annual Chamber Business Awards 2022, One+All, an employee-owned manufacturing firm based in Stockport, has won the Community Champion award, sponsored by Visa.

The awards, now in its 19th year, is one of the showpieces of the business calendar, highlighting the role of firms in delivering growth and prosperity for the UK and local communities.

To recognise the particular challenges of the last 12 months, three new categories have been introduced to the Chamber Business Awards Programme 2022, including the Community Champion award. This award recognises the work of an organisation that facilitates, participates in and enables community engagement, demonstrating the power of giving back.

The impact of One+All, a member of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, reaches far beyond their business of schoolwear manufacturing. With involvement in a dozen community projects, One+All is a strong force for good in the Greater Manchester area. It is an exceptional organisation that is actively involved in its local community and demonstrates the power of giving back.

Sarah Howard, Chair of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said:

“It is nothing short of inspiring to hear of the difference One+All is making in its local community. The list of the organisation’s community work is extensive but includes promoting the real living wage campaign, raising thousands of pounds for local charities, training staff members to be domestic abuse support champions, working with a local collective to improve the confidence and employability of women, developing a carbon literacy programme for local organisations, and much more. How they have time to get their business of making school uniforms done is beyond me!”

Mandy Lamb, Managing Director, UK and Ireland, Visa said:

“Huge congratulations to One+All for winning this Chamber Business Award – a fantastic recognition of the important work they are doing to support their local community.

“It is extremely encouraging to see organisations like One+All leading a range of initiatives, from convening local businesses to inspire action on emissions reduction, to fundraising for charities delivering benefits to local communities.

“At Visa, we are motivated by seeing organisations thrive, and aim to support more communities up and down the country – of all shapes and sizes – to prosper. By supporting initiatives like these, we hope to continue to encourage a business environment that works to uplift everyone, everywhere.”
