Commenting on the government’s proposal to quarantine passengers entering the UK in hotels, Co-Executive Director Claire Walker said:
“Decisions on protecting public health must be paramount but they cannot and should not be taken without considering their far-reaching economic impacts.
“Like so many British businesses our airports and airlines are facing a bleak future. The government must set out a long-term strategy for exiting the pandemic that provides support to the whole of the economy throughout 2021 and, in particular, assists sectors and supply chains, such as aviation, facing the most stringent restrictions.
“Action is needed now – many firms’ cashflow is at an all-time low, and current support packages will end soon with no clarity on what future help businesses can expect.”
