Suffolk Chamber of Commerce

CASE STUDIES

suffolk Chamber of Commerce

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce actively supports local businesses to succeed in global markets, strengthening both the regional and wider UK economy.

Through Suffolk Chamber International, we provide comprehensive support for internationally trading businesses across trade facilitation, policy, and promotion. This includes export documentation, market entry strategies, and international trade training, helping businesses navigate complex regulations and seize global opportunities.

We play a key role in strengthening diplomatic and commercial relationships by hosting ambassador visits, international trade events, and briefings with embassies and trade bodies, connecting Suffolk businesses directly with overseas partners.

Recent initiatives include our CBAM Consultancy Service, offering expert guidance on the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Our Customs Health Check ensures businesses stay compliant in a shifting regulatory environment. We also offer an accredited 4-day Introduction to International Trade course, which equips participants with the essential skills for trading globally. Our International Trade Group provides a collaborative forum for sharing knowledge, intelligence, and opportunities across the business community.

Our international engagement has opened new doors for Suffolk businesses. Recent highlights include ambassador visits from South Africa, the Netherlands, and Port Klang Free Port, alongside a successful CPTPP trade event introducing members to Asia-Pacific opportunities.

Notable successes include a Suffolk-based manufacturer expanding into India. By leveraging our MoU’s and overseas networks, we supported their market research, compliance, and partner introductions, transforming a challenging expansion into a tangible success.

Another example is facilitating a meeting between Challs International, a Hadleigh-based manufacturer and winner of BritCham Singapore’s UK Exporter of the Year (2021), with David Kelly, Executive Director of the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore. The discussion focused on strengthening trade links between Suffolk and Southeast Asia, highlighting Suffolk Chamber’s pivotal role in connecting local businesses with global markets and driving international growth.
