Glasgow Chamber of Commerce trade mission to Singapore

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce successfully completed its second trade mission to Singapore, strengthening connections between Glasgow and one of the world’s most dynamic markets. Hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore, the visit highlighted the value of international collaboration and the opportunities arising from cross-border engagement.

The delegation explored trade and manufacturing opportunities through the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone, a transformative corridor linking Singapore and Malaysia. Insights from Singapore’s Minister of State for National Development outlined ambitious plans to enhance the region’s role as a global business hub with strong links to neighbouring markets.

Representing sectors including renewable energy, semiconductors, and AI, the delegation showcased Glasgow City Region’s position as a hub for innovation. A key highlight was a visit to A*STAR’s Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre, where delegates engaged with pioneering research in aerospace and sustainable manufacturing, gaining insight into how AI and remanufacturing are driving productivity and circular solutions.

The trip concluded with the Glasgow Connections networking event, bringing together alumni from the University of Strathclyde and the University of Glasgow to foster collaboration. The mission resulted in new meetings being organised and lasting relationships built between Glasgow and Singaporean businesses. Supported by the Scottish Government and Scottish Chambers of Commerce through the International Trade Partnership, the mission reinforced Glasgow’s commitment to positioning itself as a strategic gateway to wider Asian markets.

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce trade mission to New York

As Glasgow celebrates its 850th birthday, the city’s story was showcased on the global stage during Tartan Week in New York City. Led by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Scottish Chambers of Commerce and the Scottish Government, the trade mission brought together a dynamic delegation of businesses including Dram Communications, Street Soccer Scotland, The Gael Spirits Co. and more.

The mission aimed to strengthen transatlantic ties and unlock new opportunities for international trade. Delegates engaged with influential partners such as the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, NYC Economic Development Corporation, BritishAmerican Business, and the United States Council for International Business. These meetings explored collaboration in areas like sustainability, certification, and economic growth.

A highlight was the signing of a new memorandum of understanding between Scottish Chambers and the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, reinforcing Glasgow’s historic trading legacy and future ambitions. The business networking reception at Edrington’s midtown offices welcomed Global Scots, senior government officials, and business leaders, including First Minister John Swinney and Secretary of State Ian Murray.

The mission concluded in the NYC Tartan Day Parade, celebrating Scottish identity and culture. But for Glasgow, this was more than a celebration, it was a launchpad for deeper international partnerships. With continued collaboration and investment, Glasgow’s business community is poised to expand its global footprint and deliver lasting economic impact.
