CASE STUDIES

inverness Chamber of commerce

Inverness Chamber of Commerce regularly run trade missions overseas, supporting Scottish businesses with making connections to access new markets. In the last 12 months, we have delivered trade missions to Ireland and the Netherlands, successfully collaborating with the Chamber network to facilitate valuable connections, having recently worked with Dublin Chamber of Commerce and the Netherlands British Chambers of Commerce (NBCC).

These trade missions provide companies with a platform to explore new markets, make initial contacts and meet potential buyers or partners. Several of our delegates have already secured new business contracts or partners in these markets, with one of our delegates connecting with an old contact in the Netherlands which has now led to them exploring re-opening a dormant office they used to have in Amsterdam. Having a base in the Netherlands will be a driving factor in expanding sales across the EU. Another delegate secured new contracts in both Dublin and Amsterdam, connecting with a global tax firm to place a senior tax advisor within the firm’s offices.

In addition to our trade mission activity, we also deliver training to companies across the Highlands and Islands region. We have designed two training packages, with one being tailored towards newcomers to international trade, exploring the basics of importing and exporting, while the other is more suitable to those at a more advanced level. These training workshops are a valuable tool for companies to learn more about expanding into international markets, whilst maintaining compliance.
