CASE STUDIES

Altimex Ltd

Altimex Ltd is proud to be a driving force in the UK’s advanced electronic systems and LED lighting manufacturing sector. Since our founding in 1995, we have built a reputation for engineering excellence, innovation, and a deep commitment to both sustainable growth and local impact.

In recent years, Altimex has demonstrated exceptional levels of growth, expanding both our customer base and operational capacity. Despite global supply chain pressures, we have achieved double-digit revenue growth year-on-year, reflecting not only the demand for high-quality British manufacturing but also the resilience and agility of our team. Our investments in automated manufacturing systems and cleanroom assembly environments have allowed us to remain at the forefront of our sector while increasing productivity and improving customer lead times.

Looking ahead, we are focused on sustainable expansion. Our three-to-five-year strategy includes increasing export activity, expanding R&D capacity, and increasing our UK manufacturing footprint. We are also developing proprietary technologies that respond to emerging needs in sectors such as renewable energy, transportation, and medical devices. Financially, our growth is underpinned by a robust strategy that balances reinvestment with disciplined cost control, ensuring long-term profitability without compromising our values.

Beyond financial metrics, Altimex is deeply committed to making a ‘meaningful’ contribution to the local and national economy. Based in Cheshire, we actively partner with local schools, colleges and universities to offer placements, mentoring, and apprenticeships, helping nurture the next generation of engineers and technicians. We’re proud to have retained talent within the region, and over 85% of our current staff live locally — many having progressed internally through training and development programmes.

We also work closely with local community groups and educational organisations to raise awareness of STEM careers. This includes providing equipment for school workshops, hosting factory tours, and offering insight sessions to students from underrepresented backgrounds. In the past year, we’ve also increased our local supplier spend by over 20%, reinforcing our commitment to building economic resilience within our own community.

Our business is not only about producing exceptional products—it’s about doing so with purpose. We believe that real growth is measured not only by financial success but by the positive and lasting impact we have on the people and places around us – the local community.

In every decision we make—whether it’s adopting low-waste production practices, investing in people, or supporting local causes—we ask ourselves how it contributes to a stronger, more inclusive economy of the future. That is why we believe Altimex Ltd is a worthy candidate for the Local Economy of the Future – Business of the Year.

Company Growth

On the back of the success of the brewery site and events, Dal then set his sights on expanding both the range of products on offer and the footprint of the business. In December 2021, Dal agreed a 20-year lease on Christchurch Spire in Coventry city centre. The unique venue serves Dhillon’s beers and ales on tap, as well as offering hot drinks and food, to create a family friendly environment.

Dhillon’s next venture was the Sky Blue Tavern, a brand-new sports bar in the city centre, in partnership with Coventry City Football Club. The Tavern is a hub for Sky Blues fans to meet and enjoy a drink, whether on matchdays or non-matchdays, and helps to generate revenue and support for the club. As one of the only dedicated sports bars in Coventry, football and sports fans can watch the latest action on big screens and in individual booths.

Dhillon’s Brewery have now also secured several catering contracts, including with Historic Coventry Trust, where they provide food and beverage operations at the historic Drapers’ Hall, as well as at other Trust locations.

The company’s vision and long-term growth plan continues to be focused on its close association with Coventry whilst securing further locations and contracts, to build a sustainable, profitable business model whilst continuing Dal’s original passion for brewing beautifully crafted beer.
