CHAMBER WOMEN
iNTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2026
The British Chambers of Commerce International Women’s Day Hub brings together powerful stories, practical action, and real impact from across the Chamber Network and wider business community.
Aligned with the Give to Gain principle, the hub showcases how supporting women in business isn’t just the right thing to do — it strengthens organisations, communities, and the economy as a whole. By giving time, opportunity, advocacy and investment, businesses gain innovation, resilience, talent, and long-term growth.
Showcasing Progress and Impact
Black Country Chamber of Commerce
Black Country Women in Leadership was established by Black Country Chamber of Commerce to support and celebrate women in senior leadership roles. The network provides a welcoming environment for women in business and aims to raise the profile of regional female leaders, whilst inspiring the next generation. Quarterly events provide opportunities for peer networking and information sharing whilst addressing inequalities and striving for parity within the region’s business community.
The Women in Leadership network is overseen by a steering group of Chamber members and chaired by Chamber member Lucy Rook of BlackRook Academy. Recent events have included ‘The Career Kaleidoscope’ featuring inspiring career stories and ‘Own Your Power’ emphasising the importance of health and wellbeing at any age.
The Women in Leadership network also proudly champions the ‘Guiding Stars’ mentoring scheme for young women in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton.
Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce
Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce champions gender equality through our flagship Women in Business Conference, which brings together business leaders from across the two counties to inspire, educate and connect. The Conference highlights influential female role models, shares practical leadership insight and creates valuable opportunities for collaboration and cross-sector networking. Through keynote speakers, panel discussions and interactive sessions, delegates leave with practical tools, fresh ideas and renewed confidence to support their own progression and drive positive change within their organisations.
Alongside this, our Women in Business Forums offer welcoming, supportive spaces for peer connection and open conversation. These regular sessions encourage honest discussions about leadership challenges, ambitions and workplace inclusion, while helping women expand their networks and build confidence. By consistently elevating female voices and creating opportunities for visibility and development, we are helping to strengthen the pipeline of women in leadership across our local business community.

Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce
NI Chamber is proudly ‘giving to gain’ by investing time, leadership and practical support in the next generation of female leaders.
Through our local partnership with SistersIN, a leadership development programme designed to build confidence and broaden career horizons for sixthform girls across Northern Ireland, NI Chamber is helping to strengthen the pipeline of future talent. The programme matches pupils with mentors from across business, education and the public sector, offering insight, guidance and realworld exposure to leadership journeys.
As well as supporting the initiative through a strategic partnership, this year, both our Chief Executive (Suzanne Wylie) and Head of Communications (Olivia Stewart) have volunteered to personally mentor sixth-form students. And we’re encouraging our members to do the same.
In addition to being hugely rewarding for everyone involved, our work with SistersIN reinforces how progress is accelerated through generous partnership and reflects NI Chamber’s wider mission to champion inclusive growth and empower more women to thrive.

The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is “giving to gain” gender equality through its dedicated Women in Business Group, created to empower professional businesswomen and address persistent barriers to progression.
The group which celebrates its third year this March, campaigns for greater representation of women in business, particularly in sectors where women remain underrepresented, while its mixed‑gender advisory board actively shapes policy discussions to enhance cross‑sector inclusion.
LCCI also advocates for improved access to finance for female founders, recognising the structural funding challenges women entrepreneurs continue to face. In addition, the Chamber delivers innovative events and workshops that spotlight inspiring female leaders and role models, reinforcing visibility and shared learning across its network.
Complementing this, the group provides support services to help businesswomen thrive, providing networking and practical resources designed to drive workplace success and build an inclusive, competitive business community.
Who in your Chamber network is giving to gain?
Within the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) network, Abby Ghafoor OBE, Chair of the Women in Business Advisory Group and member of LCCI for 10+ years, exemplifies “giving to gain.” Abby was recently recognised in the King’s New Year Honours List 2026 for her services to business and her contributions to diversity and inclusion, highlighting her impact across the sector.
Reflecting on this recognition, Abby emphasised that meaningful progress happens “when inclusion and fairness sit at the heart of decision‑making” and expressed pride in the achievements delivered so far.
Beyond her commercial accomplishments, Abby continues to champion fairer and more representative leadership, advocating for women in business, diverse talent pipelines, and more inclusive decision‑making across the Chamber community. Her leadership demonstrates how giving back, through mentorship, advocacy, and championing equity, creates opportunities that strengthen the wider business ecosystem.

Essex Chambers of Commerce
In 2025 the Essex Chambers of Commerce were thrilled to relaunch NOW – The Network of Women: The strength to be gentle, the power to succeed.
Originally founded by our CEO, Denise Rossiter, 20 years ago, NOW is a powerful private network created to connect, uplift, and empower women across the county.
Joined by our incredible members and patrons, we celebrated the relaunch last summer at Essex Cricket Club, cheering on Essex Women as they took on Somerset.
It was a pleasure to also be joined at the inaugural event by Anne-Marie Martin, Director of Membership at the British Chambers of Commerce, who spoke to attendees about the wider support available through the British Chambers Network.
We will be holding NOW events regularly to strengthen the working relationships of women across our county.

Shropshire Chamber of Commerce
Our Chamber embodies “Give to Gain” through visible leadership and intentional action. Our senior leadership team is entirely female – a powerful reflection of what’s possible when talent is recognised, nurtured and trusted. Representation at this level sends a clear message to our business community that leadership is defined by capability, not convention.
Beyond representation, we actively create platforms that elevate women’s voices and expertise. Through flagship events such as International Women’s Day and our Network of Women forum, along with cross-sector collaborations, we connect female founders, executives and emerging leaders to networks that build confidence, influence and commercial opportunity. We champion diverse Boards and inclusive leadership. Because we know that when women lead, organisations perform better and communities grow stronger.
Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce
Aimee Doole, Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Board Member and People, Brand & Culture Director at Booth Welsh:
At Booth Welsh, our approach to gender equality sits within a wider commitment to inclusion and creating opportunity for everyone. We recognise that building more inclusive workplaces is an ongoing journey, and our focus is on creating an environment where people feel respected, supported and able to progress based on their skills and contribution.
Through our employee ownership model and ongoing staff engagement activities, we focus on listening to employee feedback and creating a positive working environment where people feel valued and included.
Alongside early careers programmes and engagement with schools and local communities, we aim to widen access to opportunities and encourage a more diverse future workforce. In 2024 & 2025, we sponsored the Community Wealth Building category at the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce Awards, supporting organisations that strengthen local supply chains and deliver long-term community value.
Through partnerships such as this, we continue to support collaboration, shared learning and a more resilient regional economy.
By working alongside our Chamber community, we continue to learn from others, share experiences and play our part in supporting more inclusive workplaces across the region.
East Midlands Chamber
Our Enterprising Women network is “giving to gain” by creating practical pathways for gender equality across our region. Through year-round networking events, leadership development, and Awards, the network champions female talent, raises visibility, and supports women at every stage of their careers.
A key focus is connection, bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs and emerging professionals to share experiences, build confidence and open doors. Events such as our annual conference, networking and Awards actively showcase inclusive leadership while encouraging organisations to champion equality through culture change, flexible working and progression pathways.
Dales Fabrications, one of our members demonstrate this in action by investing in women through apprenticeships, skills development and supportive workplace practices.
They have won at both our annual Enterprising Women awards and Generation Next awards. “We’ve seen first-hand how supporting women in our workforce strengthens our culture and performance. When people feel valued and supported, everyone benefits.” – Nicola Chambers, Enterprising Women Developing Leader Award Winner 2025

Drawing on 25 years of experience in a male-dominated accountancy industry, she is passionate about helping others find their voice and pursue their interests without fear of judgement or being overlooked. She enjoys taking people under her wing, reminding them that progress starts with simply being willing to try.
Paislei recently shared her expertise on a panel at the Women with Metal conference, where she discussed Inheritance Tax, upcoming tax changes and wider issues affecting women in business. She advocates for greater prioritisation of education and cultural change in the workplace, including coaching and open-mindedness to strengthen collaboration and leadership. Some of her junior colleagues have also named her as an inspiration during their leadership training, reflecting her positive impact on colleagues.

British Chamber of Commerce in Germany
The BCCG proudly celebrates its strong and visible commitment to advancing gender equality under the leadership of CEO Ilka Hartmann.
Empowering women is not just an initiative, but a clear strategic priority reflected in the many dedicated women shaping our Head Office, Board, Council and Regional Committees.
Our SHeconomy format has become a powerful platform for female leadership and exchange and creates a trusted space by women for women.
With seven webinars and eleven in-person events over the past year, women from politics and senior management openly shared their experiences, challenges and career journeys.
A particular highlight was our exclusive panel at the 25th LSE German Symposium, hosted by the LSE German Society.

The British Chamber of Commerce Korea (BCCK)
The British Chamber of Commerce Korea (BCCK) exemplifies the “Give to Gain” theme through its Empower Programme – a year-long personal development programme for women, organised by the British Embassy Seoul and BCCK in partnership with UN Women. Established for women in the business environment in Korea, it develops skills, confidence, and knowledge to achieve career aspirations while exposing participants to new ideas, environments, and networks. The first cohort started in May 2023 – having graduated two cohorts, we are now working with our third cohort of talented women from diverse Seoul industries.
BCCK members “Give to Gain” by providing workshops for the Empower cohort, sharing business expertise that accelerates participants’ growth. This generosity strengthens members’ networks and leadership profiles, creating shared benefits for gender equality and UK-Korea business collaboration.
Ann Fuell exemplifies “Give to Gain” as BCCK Advisor and Program Advisor of BCCK’s Empower Programme. Ann dedicates her personal time to coordinating workshops with BCCK member companies, ensuring participants gain maximum value by facilitating learning between speakers and participants.
Her selfless commitment goes beyond sessions – she fosters a supportive community, connects participants with opportunities, and champions inclusive practices across the UK-Korea network. Ann’s proactive volunteering drives real impact: cohort members boosted confidence and networks, while Ann gains fulfillment from amplifying women’s voices. Through her tireless efforts, Ann not only advances gender equality but also inspires BCCK members to collaborate for collective progress.

The Venezuelan-British Chamber of Commerce
How is your Chamber “giving to gain” gender equality? (initiatives, partnerships, projects, internal actions etc.)
The Venezuelan-British Chamber of Commerce (CVBC) embodies a “giving to gain” approach to gender equality. Our initiatives amplify women’s roles whilst strengthening our network and business impact.
Advocacy Role
We champion women’s empowerment and gender equality across all discussions, fostering inclusive practices.
Working Group
We’ve formed a dedicated gender equality working group with CEOs, HR, communications experts and others to drive solutions.
Empowerment Actions
Across our four working committees (Legal, Finance, HHRR, Youth Executive Section)—two led by female executives—we host an annual CVBC WEPs event, two yearly executive women’s meetings (WEPs breakfasts/lunches), balance male/female speakers, and spotlight national/international women leaders.
WEPs Target
We target more companies joining the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to build a gender-balanced coalition.
Who in your network is giving to gain? (businesses or individuals championing equality through leadership, mentoring, policy, culture change or community action)
Our Board Directors—CEOs and VPs—are champions of gender equality, actively leading committees, events and WEPs initiatives. Female executives head two of four working committees (Legal and HHRR), whilst male leaders balance panels and mentor rising talent. Member firms support through inclusive policies, volunteering and WEPs sign-ups, driving cultural change across Venezuelan-British business networks.

UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce
UKGCC advances gender equality by intentionally creating platforms where women lead, speak, and influence business outcomes. Through curated panel discussions, trade missions, and high-level networking forums, UKGCC ensures female executives and entrepreneurs are visible and heard. UKGCC also spotlights female executives in its ‘Spotlight’ and ‘Women Who Lead’ series across its digital platforms, strengthening their market access and credibility. This reinforces UKGCC’s position that gender equity is not a side agenda but a commercial imperative.

British Chamber of Commerce Czech Republic
The British Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic supports gender equality and women’s professional development through long-term programmes and strategic partnerships. A key initiative is the Equilibrium Mentoring Programme, a structured 10-month mentoring scheme that connects women in business and leadership with experienced mentors to strengthen their confidence, management skills, and career growth. Running since 2011, Equilibrium has created a supportive community that helps women overcome systemic barriers, expand professional networks, and build work-life balance. The programme combines one-on-one mentoring, group workshops, and networking events to empower women and promote inclusive professional development in two countries already, Czechia and Slovakia.
In addition to Equilibrium, BCC collaborates with Kérastase on the Power Talks Flash Mentoring Programme, a free mentoring format aimed at women aged 18-29 to bridge the confidence gap. This initiative offers concise, impactful mentoring sessions focused on self-belief, career strategy, and communication skills, helping young women recognize their potential, build confidence, and advance professionally.
Many established corporate and institutional partners support the Equilibrium Mentoring Programme in its mission to advance gender equality and leadership. The programme is backed by institutions such as the British Embassy in Prague and Bratislava, which provide diplomatic support and visibility, and by the patronage of Česká spořitelna, a leading bank committed to diversity and inclusion. Corporate engagement also comes from major internationally recognized BCC members with British roots, such as Barclays, Vodafone, and Tesco, illustrating the programme’s cross-sector impact.
On top of formal corporate support, Equilibrium is strengthened by a wide network of senior professionals who volunteer as mentors. These experienced leaders, including HR specialists, C and B-level managers, consultants, and executives from companies such as Shell Czech Republic, GSK, ING Bank, SIEMENS, or the GENERALI Česká pojišťovna, contribute their time, insight, and industry networks to guide and support.

Marina Bidoli is a BCCI Councillor and Brunswick Group Partner. Based in Milan, she formerly headed Brunswick’s Johannesburg office.
Business leaders have a responsibility to be a force for good. Having led teams in South Africa and Europe, I’ve learned that while we may face the same storm, we are not in the same boat. Talent is universal; opportunity is not. That gap is a human failing and a strategic risk.
People don’t leave for lack of ambition; they disengage when systems constrain them. Inclusive cultures unlock everyone’s potential, enabling talent to thrive.
This matters even more as AI reshapes decision-making, and the cost of homogeneity rises. Algorithms amplify their designers’ perspectives. Blind spots scale. The women codebreakers at Bletchley Park proved that overlooked talent can change history.
Inclusion is a competitive advantage: investing in women strengthens leadership, sharpens judgment, and builds resilient businesses and economies.

Deirdre Doyle, CEO of Property International
The global female population represents nearly 50% of humanity, yet more than 90% of CEOs are men. While recognising the valuable differences between the sexes, I firmly believe that the world would be a better place if societies were organised in ways that allow women to take leadership opportunities and contribute fully at the highest levels.
I am the CEO of Property International, a successful real estate company that has been based in Milan for many years. With only one exception, my staff have always been women: mothers, mothers-in-law, daughters, wives, and yes, even dog owners.
The reality is that most women face difficult compromises. I deeply admire those who make significant sacrifices, whether by dedicating themselves to their families during the early years of their children’s lives, or by relying on others to care for their children or elderly parents so they can pursue their careers. These are not easy decisions, and they require strength, courage, and resilience.
Through my experience, I have learned that when women take on leadership opportunities and feel supported in managing the realities of their lives beyond the office, they respond with exceptional loyalty, professionalism, and dedication. In my view, this mutual trust and respect is the greatest asset any company can have.
Creating environments where women can step forward and lead is not simply a matter of fairness — it is a matter of building stronger, more effective organisations and, ultimately, a better society.

Using Pearson Graded Readers, learners strengthened language skills while engaging with inspiring stories that highlight resilience, courage, and the joy of reading.
The reading project was organized by Donatella Fitzgerald MBE and Anna Aimetti in Pearson Italy.

Mariateresa Giussani, BCCI Councillor & National Delegate/ CEO, LM School Uniforms
As the founder and CEO of LM School Uniforms, promoting gender equality is something I live and lead every day. When I started the company, I understood first-hand the pressures women face in business — particularly balancing leadership with family life. I was determined to create a workplace where women would not have to choose between ambition and responsibility.
Today, our team is predominantly female, and I am proud to foster an environment built on respect, flexibility, and fairness. We support working parents and carers through flexible working arrangements and understanding leadership. I am firmly committed to equal pay, transparent progression, and ensuring that opportunities are based on ability and drive — not gender.
For me, “Give to Gain” means creating space for women to thrive. When women feel supported and valued at work, the benefits ripple far beyond the business into families and the wider community.

Indu Seshadri, Co‑founder of Skewb
Indu Seshadri is Co‑founder of Skewb and a values‑led leader whose philosophy of Give to Gain shapes both the organisation’s culture and its impact beyond business. This belief underpins Skewb’s culture of trust, opportunity and humanity, reflected in a workforce that is 55% female.
Give to Gain is most visible in Skewb’s long‑term commitment to young people. The business supports Young People First, a Warwick‑based charity helping young people facing challenges through practical support and life‑changing programmes, alongside Skewb Futures, which creates meaningful early‑career opportunities for UK graduates.
Skewb also supports charities addressing homelessness through Wellness Boxes, provides ongoing support to local food banks, and partners with organisations including Kindled Spirit and the Sardar Patel Institute of Technology in India. Shropshire Chamber of Commerce

Felicity Wingrove, Company Director at Zen Communications Ltd
We spoke with Felicity Wingrove, Company Director and champion of women.
She told us: “Through my global leadership development work, I design and deliver programmes that strengthen and support women to step into more senior, visible roles. I mentor female founders and emerging leaders, volunteer my time to champion women in business, and use platforms I host to spotlight female expertise and achievement.
As a Non-Executive Director of Shropshire Chamber, I also advocate for stronger representation and inclusive governance at Board level. I speak candidly about some of the issues that impact women in business. To me, leadership is about alignment. I’m proud to be both a mother and a senior leader, and I intentionally show up as both. I hope to empower other women to pursue leadership without guilt or self-doubt”.
East Midlands Chamber of Commerce
The new President of East Midland’s Generation Next network for young professionals, Preethi Kang, is a powerful example of this.
Generation Next exists to help young professionals grow. But for many women across the East Midlands, it is doing something even more powerful. It is helping them find their voice.
At a time when 98% of young professionals view networking as essential to career development, creating supportive, confidence-building spaces has never been more important. Generation Next provides exactly that. A platform where emerging talent can connect and develop.
Our new President, Preethi Kang, is a powerful example of this. Like many women early in their careers, Preethi experienced imposter syndrome. She now gives back by championing female participation, encouraging employers to invest in young talent, and promoting spaces where women can learn, connect and grow.
“Most importantly, I made like-minded friends who supported me. Generation Next played a pivotal role in my growth. Without it, I genuinely don’t think I would be able to stand up in front of so many people today and speak.”
