Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs)

The British Chambers of Commerce is piloting 8 Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs), developed by 11 accredited Chambers of Commerce.


The Local Skills Improvement Plans aim to transform the responsiveness of local skills systems in meeting the changing skills needs of employers.

Trailblazers are employer-led and locally owned. They are working closely with their business communities, local education and training providers and other key stakeholders to transform local skills systems in meeting the changing skills needs of employers.

BCC supports these Accredited Chambers of Commerce and contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of this important programme.

The 8 Accredited Chambers of Commerce leading LSIPs are:

  • Cumbria Chamber of Commerce
  • North East England Chamber of Commerce (Tees Valley)
  • Doncaster Chamber (South Yorkshire)
  • North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce
  • East Midlands Chamber (Leicestershire)
  • Business West (West of England)
  • Sussex Chamber of Commerce
  • Kent Invicta Chamber
