Countdown to Global Annual Conference with...Karen Beardsley

Karen Beardsley Managing Director of Rail Operations for Unipart Rail and will be speaking on a panel at Day 1 of BCC's Global Annual Conference 2021.

Ahead of the event, we asked Karen some questions about what influenced her to speak at this year's virtual event and what she is most looking forward to over the two day virtual conference.

What are you most looking forward to during the 2-day Virtual Conference?

I am really looking forward to a positive discussion about how the last 12 months has exposed the weaknesses of many of our supply chains and how we are adapting and building agility and resilience to deliver a better future. I want to get past the doom and gloom of the last 12 months!

What would you particularly like to bring awareness to/cover?

I believe that there are significant opportunities to rebuild and grow and we need to take control and responsibility for reshaping our businesses. We must work together at local and UK level to rebuild a better future for our next generation.

What are two key takeaways you hope to give the audience?

The future is positive and we all have to take responsibility and advantage of every opportunity that comes our way by learning from the last 12 months and thinking innovatively about how we deliver more for less.

What influenced you to agree to speak at the Global Annual Conference?

The theme of return to prosperity and growth - we are moving away from thinking about the last 12 months and starting to look to the future positively. I strongly believe that we have some real opportunities to rebuild and we have to take advantage now.

What do you hope to gain from attending the Global Annual Conference?

Opportunity to hear from other panelists and speakers to understand how they have approached some of the challenges and their thoughts on new opportunities for UK business.
