Concrete Canvas – Winner of Innovation through Technology and Outstanding Business Achievement Awards

Introduction

Concrete Canvas Ltd is a material technology company established in 2005 to develop and manufacture 2 award winning products, Concrete Canvas (CC) and Concrete Canvas Shelters (CCS). The company was founded by two engineers: Peter Brewin and Will Crawford to exploit a unique material technology they invented during a postgraduate degree. Concrete Canvas is growing rapidly by continuing to innovate in both product and production technologies by developing new worldwide applications.

The Winning Entry:

Judges were impressed with the completely new innovation that will revolutionise civil and military markets across the globe. They could see that Concrete Canvas was a young but rapidly growing, innovative company with phenomenal, global potential.

One judge said: “The founders invented a unique material technology at University and have built the company around its development and applications. This technology creates an energy efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective product range that has applications across many civil and military markets. This company recognises and embraces continued innovation and development. For such a small team, this company has done incredibly well so far and with UK and international contracts is set for massive success in the future. “

Life after the Awards

Concrete Canvas will use their 2nd place winnings of £15,000 to fund the development of critical inline blending equipment which will ultimately lower the cost of production and allow for greater production flexibility.

Phillip Greer, a Design Engineer at Concrete Canvas said: “We were delighted to win two Chamber Awards. The prize money will allow us to make crucial improvements to our production line to increase capacity to meet the exponential growth of demand for our Concrete Canvas material.”
