They were founded by John Henderson in 1897 as a butter, cheese and egg retailer in Belfast. Over 120 years later they are still in the retail grocery business but have expanded and diversified significantly and now own household name brands such as Spar and Vivo.

East & North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity – The Community Champion

East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity, members of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, are the National Winners of the Community Champion award at the Chamber Business Awards 2023.
One of the projects the charity funds is the Butterfly Volunteer Service. The Butterfly Service makes a vital contribution to the Hertfordshire community, with volunteers who provide companionship to patients at the end of life at the Lister Hospital, if their loved ones cannot be there with them.
Fibrus – The Rapid Riser

Fibrus, members of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, are the National Winners of the Rapid Riser award at the Chamber Business Awards 2023.
Fibrus is on a mission to bring full fibre broadband to digitally deprived and underserved areas of the UK. They have grown exceptionally since their launch in 2019 and particularly in the past 12 months, having now passed over 300,000 homes.
Flexi-Hex – The Game Changer

Flexi-Hex, members of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, are the National Winners of the Game Changer award at the Chamber Business Awards 2023. Founders and twins Sam and Will Boex are avid surfers and are also trained product designers. Their story began in 2017, when Sam’s new surfboard arrived by courier, wrapped in layers of plastic, secured with more plastic tape.

Concrete Canvas are the inventors of a completely new class of material. From an idea at university, the two company founders have developed the material technology as well as all of the production machinery.
