The Global Player

“Excellence in Quality and International Trade is recognised by their prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade, and their two Red Dot Awards for innovative design.”
JMDA Design, members of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, is a multi-award-winning product design agency producing cutting edge, innovative designs to global clients.
With a team of talented designers in UK offices, China and Italy, JMDA specialise in designing nursery products and child car seats. Excellence in Quality and International Trade is recognised by their prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade, and their two Red Dot Awards for innovative design. Some of their clients include global household brand names such as: Hauck, Maxi Cosi and Stannah.
Key markets:
Europe: 59%. JMDA has a long history across Europe and with their Italian partner DGS Project, securing an increased customer base over 5+ years, despite restrictions on travel and reduced major trade fairs. Clients include companies from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden, covering various sectors in addition to the nursery industry.
Asia: 23%. JMDA has built up a strong presence in Asia over 20+ years and through their office in Shanghai, continuing to build an increasing network in the region to broaden their portfolio of product designs and sectors.
Americas: 1%. After the conclusion of a US corporate partnership in 2020, JMDA is now focusing on rebuilding North American market presence in the post-pandemic era, utilising existing contacts and the support of DBT to grow sales.
Middle East: 2%. The growing diversification of business in this region and the long-term strategic growth plans of governments, have resulted in JMDA looking to expand sales and further diversify its portfolio in this region. Recent sales include a new client in Dubai.
Australasia: 15%. With an associate partner in Australia, this region has always been of interest to JMDA and, while a smaller market overall, they have recently won a new large project in this region.
JMDAs three-year objectives include:
Increase turnover and profitability in product design projects in the nursery sector by 30% in China and European markets. By capitalising sales to existing clients, developing an international, integrated online marketing strategy to increase brand awareness in targeted markets in juvenile product design industries, increased marketing with major industry publications (Nursery Today), utilising network of international offices and partners, plus new partnerships.
- Expand local presence in USA, using agents and strategic collaborations to facilitate awareness and growth. Membership of US industry associations like JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) and visits to associated trade fairs.
- Expansion into other industry sectors where JMDA has experience, e.g., the mobility/accessibility and cycling sectors, with Asia and Europe being of particular focus due to greater demand and business development potential.
- Become a market leader in providing sustainable nursery products. By disrupting the market with innovative product designs, aim to become ‘thought leaders’ in designing sustainable products, to further set us apart from competitors by considering what drives consumers to purchase products on an environmental, ethical and emotional basis.
They also plan to build on the car seat recycling project, which was featured on the BBC One Show to cement their global stronghold as the market leader in designing child car seats.

Company Growth
On the back of the success of the brewery site and events, Dal then set his sights on expanding both the range of products on offer and the footprint of the business. In December 2021, Dal agreed a 20-year lease on Christchurch Spire in Coventry city centre. The unique venue serves Dhillon’s beers and ales on tap, as well as offering hot drinks and food, to create a family friendly environment.
Dhillon’s next venture was the Sky Blue Tavern, a brand-new sports bar in the city centre, in partnership with Coventry City Football Club. The Tavern is a hub for Sky Blues fans to meet and enjoy a drink, whether on matchdays or non-matchdays, and helps to generate revenue and support for the club. As one of the only dedicated sports bars in Coventry, football and sports fans can watch the latest action on big screens and in individual booths.
Dhillon’s Brewery have now also secured several catering contracts, including with Historic Coventry Trust, where they provide food and beverage operations at the historic Drapers’ Hall, as well as at other Trust locations.
The company’s vision and long-term growth plan continues to be focused on its close association with Coventry whilst securing further locations and contracts, to build a sustainable, profitable business model whilst continuing Dal’s original passion for brewing beautifully crafted beer.
