Business alarmed that teaching community have concerns about ability to deliver diplomas

Commenting on the concerns of the teaching community over the ability to deliver the government's 14-19 diplomas, David Frost, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said:
"Employers have supported the principle behind 14-19 diplomas because there is a clear need for an education system that can combine both academic and vocational learning. The diplomas need to be delivered to the highest possible standard and with a significant amount of business input.
"It is alarming that many people within the teaching community have concerns about their ability to deliver these qualifications.
"The Government needs to reassure businesses and employers that diplomas will not simply become a "worthless" qualification. They need to fully prepare schools, colleges and teachers. Failure to do this will hit business confidence in the diplomas before they have even been rolled out."
