Campaigning on behalf of British business
In proposals outlined today, the Department for Communities and Local Government is considering easing the total ban on building in areas threatened by coastal erosion. Commenting, David Frost, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said:
“This is a creative idea that would help boost the local economies of many coastal areas. Easing the blanket ban on development in places threatened by erosion offers entrepreneurs and businesses a real opportunity to create wealth and employment.
“There may be some issues around acquiring the appropriate insurance for these developments, but as long as rigorous safety checks have taken place, there should be no major problems.”
