Automotive industry will be central to the UK’s economic recovery
27/01/09 | 15:48
Lord Mandelson, the Business Secretary, has today announced a support package for the UK car industry. Commenting on the package, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), David Frost, said:
“The automotive industry supports a supply chain of companies who invest huge amounts of money in R&D and skills. We have to ensure that these companies will survive.
“After years of being treated as the Cinderella sector, politicians now realise that manufacturing will be central to the UK’s recovery. If good companies collapse during this recession, they will never be replaced.
“It is not a question of propping up lame ducks, but ensuring we have a solid manufacturing base for a successful future.”
