An Infrastructure Planning Commission will improve the planning system
19/11/08 | 13:10
British Airways Chief executive, Willie Walsh, has today argued that the UK is “not good” at infrastructure planning.
Commenting, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), David Frost, said:
“Willie Walsh is absolutely right to argue that the UK is poor at infrastructure planning.
“In its present state, the planning system severely handicaps British enterprise with a lack of clarity, high risks and painful delays.
“Crucial projects of national importance, including carbon cutting initiatives and Heathrow expansion, are being held back by complexity and delays at ministerial level.
“The proposed creation of an Infrastructure Planning Commission should help depoliticise decision-making and make the whole process more efficient.”
