  • Award Recognises Small Businesses That Use Technology to Better Serve Customers
  • Winners Receive Time with Michael Dell and £15,000 in Dell Technology

Dell today announced the European winners for the Dell Small Business Excellence Awards, recognising companies for innovative use of technology to improve their customers’ experience. The UK winner was named as Wiggly Wigglers, a Hereford-based business dedicated to creating gardens of the future through practical products combining natural beauty and environmental sustainability.  To learn more, visit www.dell.co.uk/ceaward

“One of the most important reasons small businesses use technology is to better serve customers, and no one is doing that better than this year’s winners,” said Monique Bonner, Dell’s Sales Director for SMB in UK and Ireland.

“Companies such as Wiggly Wigglers here in the UK are applying technology in innovative ways to break new ground and raise the bar. We’re proud to recognise their success and help tell their story.”

Selected by a panel of independent judges from Dell, their UK partners British Chambers of Commerce and The Daily Express, and global partner the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), the winners receive £15,000 in Dell technology and day of best-practice sharing with Dell executives, including Chairman and CEO, Michael Dell.

“Wiggly Wigglers is the cream of the crop, representing the best of innovative technology through their use of a very well planned and strongly executed social media strategy” said John Dunsmure, Managing Director, British Chambers of Commerce.

“This has allowed them to engage in direct and meaningful two way conversations with their 90,000 customers through new media such as podcasts, Facebook, blogs, videocasts and wiki catalogues. We are proud to showcase Wiggly Wigglers and emphasise how technology can help our members thrive and grow their businesses.”

Heather Gorringe, founder of Wiggly Wigglers, comments: “I was really surprised when I heard we had had won the award! Our social media strategy was always about having two way conversations with our prospective and existing customers so that we can help inspire them to create productive gardens that are great for wildlife and humans alike! It’s a fantastic feeling to have won and to receive this level of recognition is going to be brilliant for our business going forward.”

The European 2008 Dell Small Business Excellence Award winners also include:

  • France -- Sinetis from Marseille (Bouches du Rhône) offers several products dedicated to manage IT networks and automate PC installation. This system offers customers the possibility of accessing 12 PC administration applications directly via the Web, thanks to SaaS mode (Software As A Service).
