Case Study - CPN Europe

Crime Prevention Publishing

CPN Europe specialises in crime prevention publishing, producing annual booklets with tailored advice and contact details for residents and businesses in municipal areas in Continental markets. The company has recently begun production of different booklets for 9 of a potential 190 crime prevention partnerships in Sweden.

CPN Europe undertook an Export Communications Review, on the advice of their International Trade Adviser. The review looked at all aspects of their international communication, from relationships with overseas contacts with differing cultural expectations to the quality of the company's international promotional materials.

There were eight main areas of recommendations coming from the in depth meeting with consultant, Mary Cousins. The most crucial of these related to the need to learn more quickly about the costs and benefits of professional translation. The company had received three quotes for translating their website; they wondered whether it would be sensible to commission the supplier who had quoted one tenth of the costs of the other two suppliers.

The Export Communications Consultant was able to provide a knowledgeable and impartial view on the question resulting in clear recommendations for cost-savings in translation, without compromising the company image.

Following the review, MD Andrew Stringer said "We now have a prospective employee who can speak Swedish, Norwegian, French and Danish. .....This solution is perfect for us."
