The British Chambers of Commerce is working in partnership with National Business Travel Network (NBTN) and ACT Travelwise to increase awareness of travel planning and the positive impact it can have on your business and the environment.
By managing work-related travel and encouraging staff to travel sustainably businesses can save money and reduce CO2 emissions. Workplace travel plans can also help companies to demonstrate corporate social and environmental responsibility, attract and retain staff and improve reputation.
To increase awareness and understanding of key topics and to support local businesses, BCC, NBTN and Act Travelwise will be running a series of seminars via the accredited Chamber network with a focus on how travel plans can benefit businesses by cutting costs and carbon emissions.
Why should you attend?
It is more and more important for businesses to demonstrate environmental and social responsibility to stakeholders at all levels. A 2006 study into consumer attitudes† found that 27 per cent of UK consumers were more likely to spend money with a company that was carbon neutral than with one that was not. A workplace travel plan is a cost effective way for a company to address CO2 emissions and to benefit staff and the local community. It also enables companies to become more efficient and as a result, save money. It can be difficult to understand how to implement an effective travel plan which will be beneficial for your business. The seminars will:
- Explain the benefits of travel planning so you can see what effect it can have on your business and the environment around you.
- Advise on the best approach to implement a travel plan, helping you to make the right decisions for your business.
- Provide up to date information on new legislation and plans for the future on a national, regional and local scale.
What will the seminar provide?
- Hear from industry experts.
- Learn about and discuss local case studies and examples of best practice.
- What is happening in the local area and how this impacts on you.
- You will have an opportunity to ask questions and share experiences with other businesses.
- There will be an opportunity to network and meet new contacts.
