Andrew Miller MP's Temporary Agency Worker Bill will harm the very people it seeks to protect

22/02/08 | 06:42

Sally Low, Director of Policy and External Affairs at the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

"The flexibility of the UK's labour market is one of the main reasons the economy has performed so strongly over recent years. This Bill is based on false assumptions about employment trends and will do nothing to help those it seeks to protect.

"The legislation necessary to tackle rogue agencies already exists and quite rightly enforcement must be focused on those who are intent on breaking the law. New legislation such as that proposed by Mr Miller will only ensure that those who want to work flexibly will find it that much harder to do so."
