Expansion doesn't have to come at a cost to the environment if we think imaginatively

Commenting on the Secretary of State for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's speech today on the need for Heathrow expansion, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, David Frost, said:
"Mr Hutton's comments today will provide a real boost to business. UK plc will suffer if we do not allow Heathrow to expand. At a time when companies are struggling in a seriously tough economic climate, it would be foolish to place needless obstacles in the way of what is essential expansion.
"Expansion does not have to come at a cost to the environment if we think imaginatively. British business fully understands the need for a sustainable future and that's why the Chambers of Commerce are pushing for high-speed rail and improvements to our road network.
"Refusing to listen to business and the needs of the economy on the issue of Heathrow expansion will hold back our economy. I cannot believe that the vast majority of people would want to see our country become less competitive."
