Are you thinking about growing your business overseas?

ADVICE ON EXPORTING AND SUCCEEDING IN NEW MARKETS AVAILABLE FROM THE BRITISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE

The BCC has run schemes on behalf of UKTI for the past 19 years (EMRS since 1988, ECR since 1996) and is delighted to have been re awarded the contracts. The details of the schemes are:

Export Marketing Research Scheme

The EMRS was established to help and encourage UK companies to undertake overseas marketing research prior to developing a strategy for market entry or further investment into an overseas market.

The EMRS provides advice to companies at no charge on research done domestically, and funding for up to half of the cost of conducting research overseas.

By undertaking an EMRS, firms will be able to establish confidently whether or not genuine demand exists for their product and how to develop an effective market entry strategy,

Export Communications Review

It is all well and good identifying the market that you want to export to but unless you know how to communicate effectively with your export markets, then your attempts may be doomed to failure. If a company undertakes an ECR, a BCC accredited Consultant will carry out a detailed audit of the firm’s current communications with overseas customers.

Based on this, he or she will make practical recommendations to help improve the way the company communicates with its export markets. Crucially, there are no off-the shelf solutions. Everything contained within the consultant’s report is tailored to the company needs.

The BCC is delighted to be running these schemes for a further 4 years and will be seeking to increase the number of firms using them both.

Peter Mileham, President of the British Chambers of Commerce, said:

“In this era of globalisation it is no longer enough for British businesses to merely think about their local market. To survive and prosper it is crucial that businesses compete in the global market but to do this successfully they need to understand the environment in which they are operating. That is where the ECR and EMRS schemes can help.

“Both of the schemes that the British Chambers of Commerce run on behalf of UKTI offer valuable assistance to companies who are seeking to maximise their exporting potential. Through research and an understanding of the communications issues in countries, UK businesses can compete strongly in foreign markets.”
